I have been to the nearby YMCA Deer Valley Camp many times with various groups and taken many side trips to Mt Davis over the years. However, it has been some years since I was there, so, on a nice fall day, we decided to travel to Mt Davis to see the fall colors. In fact a Y Indian Princess group was on Mt Davis the day we visited.
Mt Davis is in a state park so we stopped at the picnic area and had a nice lunch before heading off to the summit. After lunch we took the trail from the picnic area to the high point and tower. Mt Davis is mostly a plateau and the high point is a rock sticking up above the other rocks on it. This makes the trail, which is less than a mile one way, fairly level. If you are not inclined to hike, you can drive and park within a few hundred feet of the tower and high point.

A few other sights we stopped at in the area, Baughman Rocks, High Point Lake overlook and the remnants of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp from the 1930's
